Housing Law Clinic receives grant. The Housing Law Clinic, a joint venture between a public interest law firm Housing Advocates, Inc. and Cleveland State University College of Law, has received a grant of $98,150 from the Legal Services Corporation to expand its operations in the City of Cleveland.
The Clinic was designed by the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and the Housing Advocates to assist third year law students in acquiring practical experience while serving low-income clients.
The primary objective of the Clinic is to prevent low-income tenants facing eviction, foreclosures or housing discrimination from being homeless. Since its start in 1990, the Clinic has provided legal assistance and counseling to over 1,500 families. Cleveland residents who believe that their rights to affordable, safe and decent housing are being violated can call the Clinic between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday at 391-5444.
